Members of the KBC Media staff earned a total of 27 awards at the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association convention in Hot Springs last week.

Aaliyah Davis was named second place Photojournalist of the Year, Rakia Edmonson was named third place Designer of the Year and MyEisha Jones won third place Online Newspaper Editor of the Year.

Davis also earned a Best of ASPA award for her multimedia coverage of Senator Tom Cotton’s visit to Jonesboro as well as a second place win in the Carry-In Two Weeks’ Work on-site contest. Tai’Mhariya Allen was a second place winner in the Carry-In Photo Story on-site contest.

The staff earned an excellent distinction in the General Excellence competition for online newspaper.

“I am extremely proud of my staff for all their honors at ASPA, especially considering this is the first year of the program,” adviser Tracey Yates Thompson said. “They have worked hard all year, and that hard work is reflected in the recognition they have received.”
